Notes
'Slender Silhouette' sweet gum (Liquidambar styraciflua 'Slender Silhouette') is a tree for pollinator gardens and low maintenance landscapes. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It grows fast in a pyramidal shape, and bees and birds visit it. It is also drought tolerant and fragrant.
Pairs well with Serviceberry, Big bluestem, and American holly.
