Notes

Harvestbells (Gentiana saponaria) is a perennial for borders, woodland gardens, and naturalized areas. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun or part shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It grows 8 to 24 inches tall on slender stems with light-green leaves. The blue-violet flowers are bottle-shaped and open only partly. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Hardy hibiscus, Northwind switchgrass, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Sundrops.
