Notes
'Hauszwetsche German Prune' plum (Prunus domestica 'Hauszwetsche German Prune') is a tree for a food garden and a pollinator garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. It is grown for culinary and dual purpose use, and the fruit ripens late in the season. Spring flowers draw butterflies and bees. This plum is self-fertile, so one tree can set fruit on its own.
Pairs well with Crab apple, Gladiator ornamental onion, Perennial candytuft, and Pink Impression tulip.
