Notes
Hayden's sedge (Carex haydenii) is a grass for rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet soil. It grows 12 to 18 inches tall and wide, and it bears green blooms in late spring and again in early to late summer. Deer tend to browse other plants first. Its grassy clumps suit wet spots and low areas near a pond edge.
Pairs well with Pickerel weed, Royal fern, and Sensitive fern.
