Notes

'Hearts on Fire' peony (Paeonia 'Hearts on Fire') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Sue Anderson bred it, and its ruffly, fragrant, double magenta flowers open in spring on upright stems that need no support. Bees and butterflies visit the blooms. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Blonde Ambition blue grama, and Western sword fern.
