Notes

'Heartthrob' viola (Viola cornuta 'Heartthrob') is a perennial for borders, containers, ground cover, and rock gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The heart shaped leaves have burgundy-red centers, and the fragrant lavender flowers attract bees and butterflies. It forms a tidy clump and will not self seed. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Green and gold, Cardinal flower, and Blueberry.
