Notes

'Hecate' peony (Paeonia 'Hecate') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Fragrant single flowers open in early to late spring and fade to cream with lavender highlights. The long stems suit cutting, and the large, dark foliage looks good even after the blooms are gone.

Pairs well with Love-lies-bleeding, Clematis, and Buffalo grass.
