Notes

'Herme' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Herme') is a shrub for borders, hedges, containers, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows slowly into a columnar, evergreen shape. The fragrant flowers appear in winter and spring and attract bees and birds.

Pairs well with Coralbells, Wax myrtle, and Carolina jessamine.
