Notes

'Highlight' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Highlight') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears double red flowers in late spring and early to mid summer. The dark red blooms have good substance, and the stems are strong. Edward Auten, Jr bred it in 1952.

Pairs well with Nepeta, Orange lily, and Foxtail barley.
