Notes
'Hobb' spreading sedge (Carex laxiculmis 'Hobb') is a grass for ground cover, shade gardens, and woodland plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet soil. It stays evergreen and forms a clumping mound 6 to 12 inches tall. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. Yellowish-white flowers open from spring into early summer and attract butterflies and birds.
Pairs well with Wild ginger, Cinnamon fern, and Oakleaf hydrangea.
