Notes
'Holstein' apple (Malus domestica 'Holstein') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. This apple is grown for fresh eating and juice. Light pink flowers open from early to late spring and draw bees. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second apple nearby for pollination.
Pairs well with High-bush blueberry, Raspberry, False indigo, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
