'Hong Lian Hua {Red Lotus}' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Hong Lian Hua {Red Lotus}') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant red flowers are single and measure about 5½ inches across. A boss of yellow stamens sits at the center. Stems stand upright to 26 inches and need no support.
Pairs well with Meadowsweet, Sedge, and Grape hyacinth.
