Notes
Hooker's evening-primrose (Oenothera elata) is a perennial for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet soil of most types. Yellow, fragrant flowers open in early to late summer and again in early to late autumn. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the blooms. It tends to become weedy, so watch for seedlings and pull extras.
Pairs well with Yerba mansa, Allegheny monkeyflower, and Fountain grass.
