Notes

'Hopley's Purple' oregano (Origanum laevigatum 'Hopley's Purple') is an herb for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil. Lavender flowers open from early to late summer and draw bees and butterflies. The foliage turns purple as colder weather approaches. In zone 5 you may want to add a winter mulch.

Pairs well with Berggarten sage, Helene Von Stein lamb’s ear, Dazzleberry sedum, and Lemon balm.
