Notes

'Horatio' carnation (Dianthus 'Horatio') is a perennial for borders, containers, rock gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Its fragrant rose-pink blooms have a maroon center ring and open in spring and again in summer. Butterflies and bees visit the flowers.

Pairs well with Blue fescue, Cheyenne Spirit echinacea, and Pink Impression tulip.
