Notes

'C.M. Hovey' camellia (Camellia japonica 'C.M. Hovey') is a shrub for borders, woodland gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 7, or down to 0°F (-18°C). This plant likes part sun and average to wet soil. It grows slowly into a columnar, evergreen form and tolerates salt. Flowers open in winter and spring, and bees and birds visit the plant. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Wax myrtle, White bigleaf hydrangea, Carolina jessamine, and Blue star.
