Notes

'Ida Mellinger' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Ida Mellinger') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, fully double flowers are dark red with some purple shading. They open in mid to late spring and early summer in a full rose form. Strong stems hold the blooms up, and the color lasts well.

Pairs well with Perennial candytuft, Prairie dropseed, and Black Hero tulip.
