Notes

'Ideal' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Ideal') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its large, full, rose-type blooms are deep pink and fragrant, and they open in late spring. Stiff stems hold the flowers upright above good foliage. Alonzo B. Franklin bred it.

Pairs well with Rainbow's End hosta, Royal fern, and Spanish bluebell.
