Notes

'Illini Belle' peony (Paeonia 'Illini Belle') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Semi-double dark red blooms have four or five rows of rounded petals around yellow stamens, and bees and butterflies visit them. Lyman D. Glasscock bred it. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with June hosta, Dittany, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and Limelight hydrangea.
