Notes
'Illumination' peony (Paeonia 'Illumination') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. Its bright yellow blooms have reddish tones and open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Derek Irvine bred it, and butterflies visit the flowers.
Pairs well with Spiderwort, Rainbow's End hosta, Mock orange, and Buffalo grass.
