Notes
'Ima-chowkow' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Ima-chowkow') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The flowers are cream, which makes them easy to pair with bolder colors nearby. You can cut the blooms for indoor arrangements. The Chugai Nursery introduced it in 1940.
Pairs well with Great blue lobelia, Prairie dropseed, and Christmas fern.
