Indomitable tree peony

Garden uses

Notes

'Indomitable' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Indomitable') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large flowers open in rose purple over cream, which makes a bold show in the garden. Derek Irvine bred it in 2001, and Southern Charm Paeonies introduced it.

Pairs well with Blue Angel hosta, Balloon flower, Cinnamon fern, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
