Notes
'Initial' apple (Malus domestica 'Initial') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Lespinasse bred it in 1980. It blooms in early to late spring and attracts bees. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second apple nearby for pollination.
Pairs well with Pink Lemonade blueberry, Columbine, Calendula, and Blue grama.
