Notes
'Irwin Altman' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Irwin Altman') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It grows up to 35 inches tall. The full double flowers are a clear, glowing light red with petals arranged symmetrically, and they have a fine fragrance. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it.
Pairs well with Meadowsweet, Lupine, Smooth hydrangea, and Western sword fern.
