Notes
'Issey' clematis (Clematis 'Issey') is a vine for containers, specimen planting, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. Cherry-red flowers with cream anthers open from early summer to late autumn, and full sun brings out the reddest tones. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. Poulsen Roser A/S introduced it in 2016.
Pairs well with Paris coral bells, Standing Ovation little bluestem, and David garden phlox.
