Notes

'James Lewis' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'James Lewis') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, double, cream flowers have a pale sulphur glow and open in late spring. They sit well above the neat bush on thick, upright stems that reach about 28 inches tall. William Henry Krekler named it for his longtime assistant.

Pairs well with Nepeta, Pincushion flower, and Ostrich fern.
