Notes

'James William' peony (Paeonia 'James William') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The fragrant, semi-double flowers are cream with dark red shading and purple flares, and they open in early to late spring. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. John and Dot McFarlane introduced it in 1997.

Pairs well with Burnet, Nelly Moser clematis, and Lily.
