Notes

'Jap Giant' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Jap Giant') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its extra large, rose-red flowers open in early summer on tall, upright plants with stiff stems. Alonzo B. Franklin bred it in 1926.

Pairs well with Fringed bleeding heart, Prairie dropseed, and Grape hyacinth.
