Notes

Japanese cornelian cherry (Cornus officinalis) is a shrub for specimen planting, winter interest, borders, and woodland gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. Yellow flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees. It sits low on the menu for deer. The multi-stemmed form grows at a moderate pace, so give it room to reach its full size.

Pairs well with Oakleaf hydrangea, Woodland phlox, Foam flower, and Chokeberry.
