Notes

Japanese hydrangea vine (Hydrangea hydrangeoides) is a vine for specimen use, privacy screens, shade gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. White, fragrant flowers open from early to late summer and attract butterflies and bees.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Autumn fern, and Fragrant Bouquet hosta.
