Notes

Bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla) is a shrub for shade gardens, hedges, cottage gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pink-rose to blue flowers open in early to late summer, and bees visit them. It grows fast and tolerates salt. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything.

Pairs well with Sum and Substance hosta, Jack in the pulpit, Sedge, and Katsura tree.
