Notes

'Joan Picton' clematis (Clematis 'Joan Picton') is a vine for containers, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil. The lilac blooms have a darker center and a lighter band around it. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It flowers freely and draws butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds.

Pairs well with Paris coral bells, Little bluestem, and Jane magnolia.
