Notes

'John Harvard' peony (Paeonia 'John Harvard') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant dark red single blooms open early, and the color does not fade. Tall stiff stems hold the flowers up. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Hosta, Eastern columbine, Sensation lilac, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
