Notes

'John Saylor' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'John Saylor') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large, neat, dark red flowers are single with wide petals. Green carpels with white tips sit in the center, and the plant bears plenty of pollen. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Incrediball hydrangea, Royal fern, and Spanish bluebell.
