Notes

'Joyce Ellen' peony (Paeonia 'Joyce Ellen') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The fragrant, cherry-red flowers have rows of guard petals around a center of stamens with yellow anthers. Strong, tall stems hold the blooms, and bees and butterflies visit them.

Pairs well with Guacamole hosta, Limelight hydrangea, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
