Notes
'Kalinka' peony (Paeonia 'Kalinka') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Deep ruby-red double flowers face upward on short, stout stems that need no support. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Give it excellent drainage.
Pairs well with Fragrant Bouquet hosta, Prairie dropseed, Carlton daffodil, and Pyrethrum.
