Notes

'Kickapoo' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Kickapoo') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant single blooms are dark red with a golden-yellow center and open in late spring. Stiff stems hold the flowers upright on a medium-height plant. Edward Auten, Jr bred it.

Pairs well with Pincushion flower, Blonde Ambition blue grama, Sensitive fern, and Carlton daffodil.
