Notes

'King of England' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'King of England') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The large Japanese type flowers have dark red guards around a center of buff staminodes streaked with rose-pink. It blooms in mid spring on tall, slender, wiry stems, so you may want to give it support.

Pairs well with Halcyon hosta, Sensitive fern, Carlton daffodil, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
