Notes

'King of Hearts' Pacific bleeding heart (Dicentra formosa 'King of Hearts') is a perennial for shade gardens, woodland settings, and borders. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and average to moist, loamy, clay, or chalky soil. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It forms a cascading mound of foliage with carmine-rose flowers. Blooms appear in spring, summer, and autumn, and hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees visit them.

Pairs well with August Moon hosta, Sensitive fern, Sedge, and Spanish bluebell.
