Notes

'Kohankie Red' Ozark witch hazel (Hamamelis vernalis 'Kohankie Red') is a shrub for specimen planting, hedges, winter interest, and rain gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. The fragrant flowers open purple red and lighten to orange at the tip. Bees visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Chokeberry, Inkberry, Cinnamon fern, and Sedge.
