Notes
'Kolcot' smoketree (Cotinus coggygria 'Kolcot') is a shrub for borders, specimens, hedges, and privacy screens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It grows at a rapid rate and reaches 4 to 6 feet tall and 6 to 8 feet wide. Butterflies visit it, and it handles dry spells well.
Pairs well with Ruby Spice sweet pepperbush, Hummelo betony, and Gladiator ornamental onion.
