Notes
'La France' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'La France') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, double pink flowers have crisp, crepe-like petals and crimson splashes. Strong stems hold the blooms upright in late spring and early summer. Victor Lemoine bred it in 1897.
Pairs well with False Solomon's seal, Pink Impression tulip, Bellwort, and Kentucky bluegrass.
