Notes
'La Mutante' peony (Paeonia 'La Mutante') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, specimen plantings, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its fragrant, pale yellow single flowers bloom in spring, and the leaves start yellow before turning creamy white and pink. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows about 32 inches tall and needs no support.
Pairs well with Coralbells, Western sword fern, and Standing Ovation little bluestem.
