Notes

'Lavender Glowsticks' cattail gayfeather (Liatris pycnostachya 'Lavender Glowsticks') is a perennial. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil. Tall spikes of fuzzy lavender flowers open from the top down in early to late summer, and bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds visit them. Deer tend to pass it by. The dark green, linear foliage forms a mound at the base.

Pairs well with Compass plant, Showy milkweed, and Foxtail barley.
