Notes

'L’Avenir' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'L’Avenir') is a perennial for borders and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Calot bred it in 1868. The reddish violet flowers are fragrant and have a yellow and reddish violet center. They open at mid-season on strong stems above dark green leaves.

Pairs well with June hosta, Magnus coneflower, and Sedge.
