Notes

'Lee' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Lee') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. In early summer it bears dark double red blooms that look like those of Harry L. Smith. William Henry Krekler bred it. Plant it where the red flowers can stand out in a border.

Pairs well with Pale purple coneflower, Phantom panicle hydrangea, and Ostrich fern.
