Notes

'Lemon Surprise' peony (Paeonia 'Lemon Surprise') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. The large, semi-double flowers measure about 6 inches across and open pale lemon with peach-pink edges and dark purple flares. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. It blooms in early to late spring and attracts butterflies.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Jeana garden phlox, and Damask rose.
