Notes

'Leo Fernig' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Leo Fernig') is a shrub for borders and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Irmtraud Rieck bred it. Large, cupped, soft pink flowers have black flares and a sweet fragrance. They open in early to mid spring on an upright, spreading plant that reaches about 39 inches tall.

Pairs well with Wild ginger, Damask rose, and Big bluestem.
