Notes

'L’Espérance' peony (Paeonia 'L’Espérance') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy soil. It bears single, fragrant, clear primrose yellow blooms with a carmine base in early to late spring, and butterflies visit them. It sits low on the menu for deer and rabbits. Victor Lemoine bred it.

Pairs well with Green Spice coral bells, Foxglove, Greig's tulip, and Royal Purple smoketree.
