Notes
'Lester M. Allen' camellia (Camellia japonica 'Lester M. Allen') is an evergreen shrub for specimen planting, hedges, espaliers, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and moist soil. The large, semi-double pink flowers fade to creamy white from late winter to early spring. In zone 6, plant it in a protected spot. Deer rarely make it their first choice.
Pairs well with Sky Pencil Japanese holly, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Crimson Queen Japanese maple.
